Fundraising
The student council meets regularly to discuss school issues and organise events. One key area of the Student Council is to raise awareness of issues in society and to help organisations through fundraising. Some of the fundraising campaigns are a one off event and some causes have a regular or annual focus.
The Student Council is involved in National events such as MacMillan Coffee Mornings, Children in Need and Red Nose Day. Cake Bake and sales are a favourite of pupils and staff.
International support has also been provided by The Student Council on projects such as the Uganda Day fundraising event which aimed to support education of young people in Uganda. Another international cause is ‘The White Helmets’ who carry out medical evacuations in war-torn Syria. The Student council organised a fun run to raise funds to support this emergency service.
Local support is also given to the Ferry Project, for the homeless in Wisbech and to the Women’s Refuge in Kings Lynn. Shoe Box appeals and Christmas Hamper Boxes are one way in which pupils at Marshland High School get involved in supporting those in need in our local community.
